Today is World Water Day and the start of the UN World Water Conference in New York. Together these events aim to increase the global momentum needed to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
This is important because as a planet we’re falling shockingly behind.
Meeting the UN’s drinking water, sanitation and hygiene targets by 2030 requires a staggering 4x increase in the pace of progress. And that means #WaterActions are needed now.
Here at #TeamTAP we’re doing our bit by increasing our dialogue about water sustainability while making and sharing those small changes, at home and at work, that together can make a difference; because every little helps.
"We’ve saved water by not running taps when not needed, not washing the cars so much, showers rather than baths, and using the garden water butt more to water indoor as well as outdoor plants."
Nikki Harrison
"I am reducing chemicals & other nasties going down the drain at home 😊 using Citric Acid and Bicarbonate of Soda instead of bleach and disinfectants 😊. I found this on Instagram. My kettle and tap are gleaming!"
Michelle Coupar
"My pledge will involve getting a rain-water butt for the vegetable garden – to reuse rainwater instead of the hose."
Liz Tomkinson
" In our house we eat local – we have a milk delivery from a local dairy farm and our veg comes from a local farm’s wonky veg that the supermarket reject and we look for products made with less water!"
Sally MacArthur
" I use plant-based washing liquid for my laundry and washing dishes, home cleaning; also, I reduce plastic by using refills."
Alina Bovtenko
" I’ve ticked the following boxes on the World Water Day Action List – Save Water, Eat Local, Stop Polluting and Protect Nature."
Emma Craigie
" I’m only putting the water in the kettle that I need – so I am not using too much water or energy to boil water that I won’t use!"
Karen Saunders
" I’ll shorten my shower time (we have bought a timer 😉). Continue nagging the children to do the same. Get the plumber round to fix the dripping taps. Take less water with my whiskey 😊."
Duncan Murray-Clarke
The #TeamTAP commitments on World Water Day are our small part of the Water Action Agenda that is being launched at the UN’s 2023 Water Conference. The conference is the first of its kind for almost 50 years and provides the unique opportunity for the world to unite over the #WaterActions needed, while increasing the momentum to ensure the availability and sustainability of water for all.
